FAQ

What is synthetic.pics?

A generative art gallery of original digital artworks — human-guided and machine-generated. Browse the gallery, collect high-resolution downloads, or launch your own gallery.

What is generative art?

Artwork produced with algorithmic and machine systems under human direction. At synthetic.pics, people set the direction and select the results; machines render the possibilities.

What does human-guided, machine-generated mean?

Human direction (mode, palette, form, composition) → machine generation → human selection → publication. See the Method page for the full workflow.

Can I purchase artwork?

Yes. Every public artwork page shows its price and a purchase action. Checkout runs through Stripe; delivery is instant.

What do I receive after purchase?

A high-resolution, watermark-free download of the artwork via a signed link (72-hour expiry), plus a backup link by email.

What license comes with an artwork?

A personal-use license: display and personal prints, with credit when sharing publicly. Commercial resale and redistribution require separate agreement. See Licensing for details.

Can I use artwork commercially?

Not under the standard purchase. Contact us before purchase if you need commercial rights.

How are artworks selected?

Curators review generations and publish only what earns a place in the gallery. Most generations never publish.

Can I create a custom gallery?

Yes. Launch your own gallery on your own subdomain with curated models, scheduled generations, publishing controls, and optional Stripe sales. See Custom Art Galleries and Create.
